Baggagelizard on Youtube put together a makeshift projection system (his laptop and a piece of glass) to make Aiko dance!
It’s not quite the same tech that the Vocaloid concerts have used, but it’s similar and works at any scale… making semi-low-budget UTAU live concerts a possibility in the future, perhaps? ;D

EDIT: I tried my hand at the technique. Mine’s a lot grainier due to a low-quality camera, but here’s Aiko and Namida dancing on my own desk xD

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while! I’ve been busy and I keep forgetting to run back here and update things!
A lot has happened, so be prepared for a big tl:dr, split up into handy sections for easy reading, haha.

UST Updates

I’ve added a couple more USTs to my download list: you can now find “WAY” (originally by Re:nG/Hatsune Miku) and the harmonies for Hoshi no Uta, for Nukude’s version of the UST.

Video Features

First off, here’s an awesome remix of Aiko’s original “Breaking Point” created by the talented AbstractEclipse of Youtube! Thanks so much, A.E! This sounds so awesome ;u;

Art is by my good friend Neptune-Blues, a.k.a. Rikki; I’ve used a lot of her art in Aiko videos, and she’s the one who made the super-awesome short PV for Mathieu’s “6900000000”! I am happy to say that she will be voicing the next UTAU in the XYZ line: Venus! Can’t wait~

Second is a very nice chorus of “Smiling” from KaiSuki, featuring UTAUs from the deviantART group “Utawa-Gakuen”!

“Utawa-Gakuen” is a high-school themed UTAU roleplay on deviantART. Roleplayers submit a school application for their UTAU (apps are currently closed) and once accepted, RP as their UTAU by joining in classes and clubs, and creating comics, songs, memes, etc. to act out the events that go on at the school.

And while we’re at it, why not have a silly MMD meme.

UTAU Album Info


Kaoling’s single “Fall Into Blind Black,” a stunning UTAU+Vocaloid duet, is available on iTunes! Singers are Hatsune Miku and Sorane Rana. This marks the first non-Japanese UTAU to ever be featured on iTunes! Congrats to Rana’s voicer, Ansha, and Kaoling!

Matryoshka Duet + Aiko’s Age…?

Trying to get back into the habit of posting covers I find including Aiko and/or Akio! ;n;

Thanks so much to Myokuju for using her in a duet with Blueloid!

Also, I have for a while been considering removing Aiko’s age from her “official” profile. Her voice is certainly not the typical voice of a 15-year-old, no matter how “tomboyish” Aiko might be. I’m now considering leaving her age completely to fan interpretation. If you consider her 15, you can continue to consider her to be 15 (I think I might xD) but it won’t in any way be “official.”

HOWEVER THIS IS NOT YET IN EFFECT!

The terms on Aiko’s bank, limiting her use in pornographic art and/or songs with explicit lyrics are still applicable. However, once I “complete” her RockLoud, PopMellow and BalladSoft voicebanks (I use that term lightly, as I’ll still develop her afterwards) she will cease to have these limitations and will be released to the public moreso as a freeware instrument (as UTAU was originally intented) than a character.

However I won’t stop making art or other character-related things! She’s still a character to me, I’d just not wish to hinder her use in music as much as she has been, and I think the age thing has held her back in that a little. I continually find people requesting my permission to use her for songs that I don’t think are inappropriate in any way and I have a feeling that’s simply because of her lengthy Terms of Use.
