Please see our terms of use for details on this! We allow anyone to use our UTAU voicebanks for free for noncommercial and doujin use. We also sell a $5 minimum pay-what-you-want license for the entire Kikyuune Family (UTAU voicebanks only).
As for all other VOXYZ vocalists, permission is required from the voicer to sell works commercially that are made using their voicebank and/or character. Also you may NEVER use art included in any VOXYZ voicebanks — or any other art created by our team — for commercial purposes.

Aiko was made during the era where it was extremely common for UTAU to have Cryptonloid-like artwork! Her original design borrowed heavily from Hatsune Miku, since I was inspired at the time to make a Crypton-like fanloid after I saw another one named Fuyu Hiiragi. She even had a tie!
Believe it or not, I never based her initial hairstyle specifically on Rin, despite what people have assumed over the years. I’d slapped some wide hairpins on a kind of chunky bob, and when I went to try to make everything more sleek in a redesign, it became Rin-like. Oops.
Thankfully, her design has continued to evolve over time and I think I can safely say I’m happy with it now!
I learned about UTAU through Zuii Takoe and SRS in late May of 2009, but only started working on Aiko in June. She was first posted on July 10th 2009 on my old YouTube channel. A week later on the 17th, I moved UTAU operations to my newer channel (then called Project UTAU XYZ) and I’ve been at it ever since!
I am an adult woman with an alto voice range! I tend to record her at what I consider a comfortable pitch.
You’re absolutely free to interpret Aiko as any gender or use whatever pronouns, as long as it's done in a respectful manner, though I’ll be continuing to use she/her myself!
I’ve been bopping around the vocalsynth community for over a decade now, and I think that’s one of the biggest contributing factors. I made Aiko when there were literally around 30 non-Japanese UTAU total, so I had visibility that’s admittedly quite difficult to get nowadays. I can also give a majority of credit to Crusher for making a couple of excellent original songs with her!
All I can say is that I’m really happy people seem to like Aiko and I’ll keep working hard on her — and my other voicebanks — so they’re all something I can really be proud of!
